Restaurant Highlight #1 - AXIS Lounge

This is totally just another excuse to try all of the restaurants around me like I did with this coffee shop review

Since I don’t have a kitchen this year to actually cook in and make my own recipes (so sad), I’m starting a new series of restaurant reviews. Most of them will be around the Fayetteville/Northwest Arkansas area, but I’ll also throw in some other ones whenever I travel. I’ve previously talked a little about my favorite Fayetteville restaurants here, but I’m excited to go more in depth with each one.

First up is AXIS Lounge + Social.

AXIS Lounge + Social

Tucked away on East Center Street of the Fayetteville Square, AXIS is a bar, restaurant, lounge, and venue. The vibe inside is very cool and funky, and they even have virtual reality you can play in the center in the restaurant!! It was kind of a hidden gem when my roommate and I first discovered it last year, and it soon became a regular place for us to go for some modern Mexican tapas.

Although, they’ve definitely been gaining more traction lately, especially with their recent expansion of the cutest outdoor patio and the addition of brunch. Overall, the food at AXIS is really good, but not mind-blowing. I personally love it for its fun, interactive, and funky atmosphere. I think it’s probably one of the coolest restaurants in Fayetteville. I highly recommend going there at night, but I will say brunch on the new patio was a really fun time.

My friends and I went there the other day to test the new brunch menu out. The options are pretty limited, but the traditional Mexican breakfast options were there, along with a few others. The dinner menu is definitely more unique. We tried the Breakfast Burrito, the Chilaquiles, and the Huevos Rancheros. Everything was great, especially topped with their house-made hot sauce. Nonetheless, dinner is still probably my favorite there. The tamales, chorizo fondue, and quesadillas that are essentially fried cheese are just too hard to top.

Ratings on the food we ordered:

Breakfast Burrito: 6/10

Chilaquiles: 8/10; unlike any other chilaquiles I’ve ever had - the chips were still crunchy so they were almost like half nachos/half chilaquiles.

Huevos Rancheros: 6/10

Must try items in my opinion:

Fondue, and Tamal Oaxaqueño + their Salsa Verde and House Hot Sauce
